FACEBOOK VERIFIED BADGE

Having the coveted blue (or grey) Facebook Verified Badge next to your band or company name is more than just a status symbol, it also gives your Page some added benefits. Not only does the badge give you legitimacy in the eyes of your followers while preventing someone from creating a duplicate Page, but Facebook claims that it can improve the reach of your posts, give your Page a higher ranking in search results, and give you first access to new features. The best part is that it's pretty easy to become verified on Facebook.

There's a slightly different process to get your band Page verified versus a business Page. We'll dig into both below.

VERIFY YOUR BAND PAGE

Before you attempt to get verified by Facebook, you'll want to go to the 'About' section of your Page and complete as much information as possible. This includes adding your website, bio, username, descriptions, hometown, etc.

After your information is up-to-date, you will have to fill out the short 'Request A Verified Badge' form in Facebook's Help section. Just select which Facebook Page you want to be verified and upload a picture of a valid government ID.

VERIFY YOUR BUSINESS PAGE

The process to get your business Page verified is slightly different, but just as easy. First, you need to make sure your Page 'Category' in the 'About' section is listed as either 'Local Businesses' or 'Companies & Organizations.'

Once you've selected a valid category, you'll see a section in your Page Settings labeled as 'Page Verification.' Just follow these steps to complete the process:

  1. Click Settings at the top of your Page
  2. From General, click Page Verification
  3. Click Verify this Page, then click Get Started
  4. Enter a publicly listed phone number for your business, your country and language
  5. Click Call Me Now to allow Facebook to call you with a verification code
  6. Enter the 4-digit verification code and click Continue

If the phone number for your business is not publicly listed, Facebook may instead require a document to complete the process. If this is the case, you will need to upload an official document showing your business' name and address (electric bill, phone bill, article of incorporation, etc).
